Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis made a bold claim that the Lakers were going to spoil ring night for the Warriors. Not only did they fail to do that, but the Lakers were beaten comprehensively by the defending champs. And AD, who was once touted to be the next Shaquille O?Neal, was given a reality check by a former Warriors star.

Davis came to Los Angeles with a lot of hope and potential. And he delivered in his first season, as he combined with?LeBron James?to guide the Los Angeles Lakers to their first title in 10 years. But since then, him and the Lakers have just not looked the same.

AD has been dealing with injury problems for the last two years. He has missed more than half of the games and this has cost the Lakers dearly. They got bounced out in the first round of the 2021 playoffs and they failed to qualify last year.

This year, Anthony Davis hopes to stay healthy and guide the Lakers to another chip.

When Davis came to Los Angeles, he was compared to Lakers legend Shaquille O?Neal. There had not been a center at the Lakers, since Shaq left. And after his initial success, many compared him with Shaq. But since then, it has been a massive letdown.

And former Warriors star, Muggsy Bogues, said that AD is no Shaq. Bouges is known to be the shortest player in NBA history and he was a legend in the 80s. He talked about how the league has changed over the years.

He said, “Centers seem to be disappearing here lately, but you got Anthony Davis. Anthony Davis is one of these agile centers, you know, but we haven’t seen a Shaquille O?Neal, Wilt Chamberlain in quite some time.”

The league has changed drastically over the years, and today’s centers are arguably a shadow of the past. Some of the top centers today are ball handlers and they are three-point shooters. And it is highly unlikely that we are gonna see a return of the traditional centers anytime soon. Nonetheless, despite AD?s skillset, he is definitely no Shaq.
