Griffin informed the public that Shaq has pledged a donation to his former Lakers teammate Slava Medvedenko’s foundation to help Ukrainian kids get through the state of war in the country.

O’Neal and Medvedenko were teammates at the Lakers from 2000-2004. The duo won two championships for the Los Angeles Lakers alongside Kobe Bryant in 2001 and 2002.

NBA on TNT is set to shed light on Slava Medvedenko’s efforts in the Ukrainian war with a special section during the pregame coverage. The network recently shared a video of how Medvedenko returned to his hometown and Ukraine’s capital Kyiv, after a successful NBA career.

The two-time NBA champ has served in the country’s defense during the war against Russia. In the video, Slava Medvedenko said“It’s kind of scary but we don’t have a choice. We have to just defend our city.”
