Have the Los Angeles Lakers hit the jackpot? Well, Andre Drummond was linked with the reigning champions as the NBA deadline was nearing. He was one of the top targets for many teams, but ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski just announced that once Drummond clears waivers, he will sign with the Lakers. Whether or not this is a jackpot is debatable, and we’ll only know once he joins them on the court. However, the Twitter world has already passed its judgment on this big move.

With both Anthony Davis and LeBron James sidelined because of injuries, the defending champions needed a big man to help them out. In fact, Drummond is great friends with Davis and will form a strong frontline once he returns. The favor goes in both ways, actually. The Lakers are Drummond’s best shot at winning a title as well.
Let’s have a quick look at how the NBA Twitter world received this big news. From Magic Johnson to Drummond himself, a lot of people had something to say about the upcoming signing.

What does Andre Drummond bring to the table?
The Lakers’ last bout was against the Cavaliers, and it was also their first win in the absence of their cornerstones, Davis and LeBron. They have currently slipped to the fourth spot in the Western Conference with a 29-17 record, but with Andre’s addition, things could turn around in their favor.
Andre Drummond will prove to be a center like JaVale McGee and Dwight Howard. His superior athleticism in comparison to Marc Gasol will be an asset for them.

There were some concerns about Gasol’s defense when he joined the Lakers. People believed that he won’t be as efficient against athletic players that had range beyond the arc. That’s exactly what happened.
So, Drummond will be the rim protector they need. In fact, he is one of the best rebounders in the history of the NBA, which will also be extremely beneficial. On the offensive end, he is likely to bring back the dominance of the pick and roll.
However, he won’t clear waivers for another 48 hours and will be missing the game against Orlando Magic. Let’s see how much the purple and gold gain from their big move.
