The Lakers, after a slow start against the Rockets, soon picked up and closed Q1 with a lead. Playing without LeBron James and Anthony Davis, it was important for the unit to take that initial kick and close the game with a much-needed victory. At this point, the Lake Show just can not afford to lose even one game, given both the Blazers and the Mavericks are winning theirs.

Coach Frank Vogel’s new starting lineup on Wednesday night did not disappoint and played with rock-solid fervor. The one man that completely stood out in the initial half of the game was Talen Horton-Tucker.

Playing at the point guard position, Talen Horton-Tucker made a case for himself in those early quarters. He closed the first half with 10 points and enjoyed a great sequence while achieving that number.

When the Lakers were 42-34 ahead, midway in Q2, THT ran his way past a dwindling Khyri Thomas and completed a superman dunk over the Rockets defense. Take a look –

The only area where the 20-YO struggled during the night was his three-point shooting. Apart from that, he looked quite efficient from the field, helping with the team’s offense.

His performance, coupled with a scintillating night for center Andre Drummond, proved to be the game-changing factor for the Lake Show.

In the Lakers’ 101-99 win over the Knicks, the two names that shined during clutch time were Wesley Matthews and THT. While Wesley stunned the Knicks with his buzzer-beater shot that forced an OT, Talen did justice to that effort by hitting a clutch three.

If not for these two names, the Lakers had already lost their chance at securing a place in the top six.

Against the Rockets, the Lakers looked very tight as they withstood a strong resilience from Kelly Olynyk and Armani Brooks. Andre Drummond’s 20+ points double-double came right on time as Kentavious Caldwell-Pope handled the defense with Alfonzo McKinnie. By the end of Q3, the Lakers led the game 100-96 after a 43-point quarter from the H-Town.
