The winner between the Utah Jazz and the Indiana Pacers seemed like a very obvious choice. On one hand, there is a team with an 8-3 record in the Western Conference, and on the other hand, the Indiana Pacers are dangling somewhere at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with a 4-8 record. However, the result of the NBA game was not nearly as shocking as the fight that broke out between Rudy Gobert and Myles Turner.
Both, the Utah Jazz, and the Indiana Pacers needed this win to keep their momentum going for the tough matchups ahead of them. However, the Pacers got the much-needed boost with a 111-100 victory over one of the top teams in the East. But it came at a price.
For a game as intense as this was, two players from both teams got into a violent scuffle with one another. With four minutes left in the fourth quarter, Rudy Gobert was standing right below the basket when he received a pass for an easy bucket. However, Myles Turner blocked the shot from going in. While doing so, Gobert was falling on the floor and he pulled Turner down with him.

The match went on for a couple of seconds on the other end of floor when other teammates realized that Turner and Gobert were getting physical with one another. Even referees and security got involved trying to separate the two. In the midst of it all, Donovan Mitchell and Joe Ingles too also got involved and were ejected. Mitchell just couldn’t cool off, while Ingles shoved a referee during the chaos.

The NBA game ended with the Pacers as winners
It seems like the Jazz weren’t expecting such a fight from the Pacers. Malcolm Brogdon led the way for Indiana with 30 points. They had four other players ending the night in double-digits.

Unfortunately for the Jazz, they were trailing behind the Pacers for the most part of the game. Mitchell scored 26 points before he was benched, and Gobert had 19 points with 11 rebounds as well.
Looks like anger got the best of Utah. The final moments that they could have used to catch up to the Pacers, they wasted in an unnecessary bout, which lost them the game. However, this is just a long shot. The Pacers had outscored the Jazz in three of the fourth quarter’s, making them the most obvious winners.
The NBA 2021-22 campaign has just begun. But rivalries seem to have been forming left and right already. Could this be the beginning of another one? The two teams are set to meet once again on January 9. So, only time will tell.
