After the Golden State Warriors, it seems like the Los Angeles Lakers too, have suffered a blow to the team. Lakers player Lonnie Walker reportedly suffered an injury during the preseason game. The Lakers vs Minnesota Timberwolves took place on October 12, 2022. A video revealed Walker limping out of the court in pain in the third quarter. Walker suffered from an ankle injury and it was announced that he will not be returning to the game.

The Los Angeles Lakers seemingly had a rough start prior to the regular season. The team has so far played five games out of which they have lost four. The team managed to redeem themselves by scoring 124 against the Golden State Warriors‘ 121 and achieving the first win after three consecutive losses. However, it turned out to be a one-time thing as they faced disappointment yet again. In the game that took place on Thursday, the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Lakers by 118-113. Additionally, the team’s forward, Lonnie Walker, had to walk out of the game during the third quarter after spraining his ankle.

Despite mostly playing as a shooting guard, Walker was put in the lineup as a small forward alongside Patrick Beverley and the Big Three – LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook.
Lonnie Walker surprises Lakers fans
Lonnie Walker entered the league through the 2018 NBA Draft. He was selected by the San Antonio Spurs as the 18th overall pick. After playing for the Spurs for four years and scoring a career-high 28 points, he signed with the Lakers in July 2022. The Los Angeles Lakers team entered a one-year contract with Walker that was worth $6.5 million. Many were skeptical when the Los Angeles Lakers signed Walker. The reason being Walker’s issues with shooting efficiency and his poor defensive skills.

However, Walker gave a pretty impressive performance during the game before his night abruptly ended due to the unfortunate incident. The 23-year-old star managed to score 12 points and three rebounds within 19 minutes. Meanwhile, AD scored 19 points with 13 rebounds, and three assists, and King James finished with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Meanwhile, the Big Two managed to score well despite the team’s loss, Russ only scored five points with three rebounds and four assists.
