The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off an embarrassing defeat in their last game. In a fight to get back to winning ways, they took on the Chicago Bulls. However, an exceptional fourth-quarter performance by DeMar DeRozan handed them their 15th loss of the season.

Despite missing Anthony Davis, the Lakers put up a great fight. This goes especially for Isaiah Thomas, who did not let his size be a disadvantage.

The Chicago Bulls easily took down the Lakers in their first meeting. However, this time around, both teams came in without some of their best stars. Anthony Davis picked up an injury in the last game and will be out for four weeks. On the other hand, Zach Lavine is under the league’s health and safety protocols and is yet to return.

Hence, both teams needed other stars to step up.

Isaiah Thomas rises up for the Lakers

Thomas is one of the shortest players in the league. However, he is one of the few players who have proved that size doesn’t take away from their skill. His run with the Celtics remains legendary, as he was an MVP candidate at the time. Since then he has dealt with injuries and had to fight to get back in the league. Nonetheless, he is making the best of it so far.

After an impressive debut scoring 19 for the Lakers, Thomas got a place in the starting lineup. With Anthony Davis out, the Lakers needed to go that extra mile. Likewise, Thomas understood his assignment. As the Lakers took their first lead since the starting tip, Thomas added to it by rising over DeMar DeRozan and Lonzo Ball for a putback layup.

While Thomas got his big chance as a starter, he did not shoot many shots. Thomas added 13 points to the Lakers total while shooting just 11 shots. He shot just once in the fourth quarter before getting subbed off. It is likely that he will get another chance with Davis out for four months.
