Every win from here on is vital for the Lakers, who have struggled to grab consistent victories this season. It’s true that the injury woes have been their biggest barrier. The super team that they built this offseason was meant to withstand these situations and they did not.
More than that, this game was a lot about revenge as well.
After a rivalry sparked between LeBron James and Isaiah Stewart because of Bron leaving him bleeding and Stewart charging at him in anger, both players were suspended for their behavior. So, for Bron to put up a stellar performance, was like making a statement, which he surely did.
His 33-point performance, 9 assists, and 5 rebounds also came with some savagery in a platter. With less than 2 minutes left in the fourth quarter, Saddiq Bey was covering LBJ. When James received the pass and was giving it to his teammate, Bron’s ball hit Saddiq right in the face.
Whether it was intentional or not, that is a different story. The Lakers superstar appeared indifferent to it.

This game was obviously powered by a lot of aggression towards the Pistons. In the first half, both teams were going neck to neck.

Unlike most of the purple and gold games this season, the third quarter was a big turning point. They used the second half to really gather a lead which the Pistons couldn’t completely catch up to, even though they tried.
Of course, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook‘s combined 49 points were the perfect help. Next up, the Lakers are facing the Sacramento Kings. This is another mediocre team that humiliated the Lakers by defeating them.
