LaMelo Ball and the Charlotte Hornets took on the red-hot Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday. The Grizzlies have been playing some excellent basketball and were on a four-game winning streak. Ja Morant is leading this young squad, and he is one of the front runners in the MVP race.

The game looked over at the half as the Grizzlies had a 31 point lead at the break. At one point, they were up by 35. But the Hornets fought back and nearly pulled off the greatest comeback in NBA History. They got it down to 4 with a little over a minute left in the game.

However, they were unable to sustain their run as the Grizzlies won 125-118. Ja Morant again led the way with 26 points and Desmond Bane continued his impressive form as he ended the game with 25 points. For the Hornets, Terry Rozier led the way with 35 points while Ball put up 25. Harrell continued his hot streak for his new team as he finished with 20 points and 9 rebounds.

In the midst of the comeback, there was an ugly moment on the Hornets bench. LaMelo Ball, who was leading the chargeback, had a fast break opportunity. He took it all the way to the rim and seemed to be hit in the process.

The refs didn’t call anything, and Ball was heated. Since he already had 5 fouls on him, his teammate P J Washington tried to calm him down and take him away from the ref. LaMelo, who was still heated, didn’t appreciate his teammate stepping in and pushed him away as he went to the bench. He’d go on to push another of his teammate as the Grizzlies called a timeout.

LaMelo Ball and the Hornets nearly make history but the Grizzlies hang on to win 5 in a row

The Hornets started off the game with a very rough shooting quarter. They shot only 15 percent in the first quarter as the Grizzlies built a 21 point lead. At the end of the half, it became worse as they just couldn’t buy a bucket as the Grizzlies were up by 31.

But after the break, they seemed to turn a corner as their offense started to come to life and they even tightened up their defense. In the fourth quarter, they went all out as they went on a 38-18 run. They had the chance to complete the comeback, but they missed crucial shots in clutch moments. The Hornets will be happy with their effort, but they will want to make sure they don’t start out that cold again.
