Joel Embiid is definitely one of the league’s most physical and fearless players. Sunday night was no different, as the powerhouse took out young Josh Giddey of the Oklahoma City Thunder. It was a dominant victory for the Sixers, who will be pleased to have racked up their second win. However, 27-year-old Embiid was shocked for a second or two, as he caused a brutal foul on Giddey.
The center has proven his might on multiple occasions. Recently, a lot of the limelight fell on his equation with Ben Simmons. In spite of all the talks, he has urged fans to support the 25-year-old and continue supporting the team. So far, Doc Rivers’ side has cashed in with two important wins, but fell short against the deadly Brooklyn Nets. Embiid has led from the front, with 63 points in three matches. He has been aided by Seth Curry and Tobias Harris.

The experienced Joel Embiid averages close to 25 points in his career. In the absence of Simmons, a lot of responsibility fell on his shoulders as a senior player. And he has not disappointed, putting in some inspired performances. He also has a phenomenal work rate, and doesn’t bother if his team has the game in the bag. He will still give his 200%, as was seen in his brutal foul on Josh Giddey of the Thunder.

The incident took place in the fourth quarter, when the game was pretty much done and dusted. 19-year-old Giddey, who was one of the top prospects in the Draft, was racing towards the basket. Chasing him, was the lethal Sixers veteran himself. As a result, Embiid went charging in to block Giddey, but missed miserably. Instead, there was a deadly collision, and the Australian was sent flying. He potentially injured his shoulder, and was also limping back on court. Though Embiid apologized and moved on, his heart would’ve surely skipped a beat.
