The Philadelphia 76ers are proving everyone wrong who thought that they would be lost without Ben Simmons. Say what you will about Ben, he did play a decent role on the defensive end for them. However, the 76ers are doing very well for themselves so far, thanks to Joel Embiid, who just defeated the Chicago Bulls and also extended their winning streak to six games. Not only that but he also pulled off a Michael Jordan move that had fans shocked.

Joel Embiid imitates Michael Jordan’s iconic shrug

With their recent win against the Chicago Bulls, Philly has found itself at the top of the Eastern Conference and with an 8-2 record. On top of that, winning six games in a row is an incredible feat to start a season with.

This is their second win against the Bulls so far and has finally helped fans focus more on Joel Embiid’s performance than the Ben Simmons’ fiasco. Embiid put up a 30-point performance along with 15 rebounds that were good enough to keep the Philadelphia 76ers ahead of the Bulls for the most part of the game.

However, the highlight was still Embiid’s shot from the arc with 15 seconds left for the buzzer to go off, which sealed their victory. And almost everyone thinks that the Philly star emulated Jordan’s iconic shrug after clinching the three-pointer. If that wasn’t all, he also mocked Bulls fans a tad bit by waving them goodbye towards the end of the game.

What is this iconic shrug of Michael Jordan?

Michael Jordan became such an entity in the world of basketball that even the smallest of his gestures became headlines and topics for fans to obsess over. Everyone knows about the fist pump and the tongue out, but there is also ‘The shrug’.

The Chicago Bulls were the reigning champions when they went up against the Portland Trail Blazers during the 1992 NBA Finals. As expected, Jordan dropped 39 points and shot 60% from the arc. It was while adding his sixth three on the scoreboard, that Jordan gestured a shrug while looking at the announcer’s table gloating, and as if in surprise.

Of course, there is no comparison between MJ and Embiid. But Joel sure did put up a performance worth the applause. If he continues to do so for the remainder of the season, this could be the season the 76ers go deeper in the postseason.
