The Dallas Mavericks had a mixed beginning to their 2020-21 season. They began the preseason by defeating the Bucks in both games, but lost the rhythm after entering the regular season. If their 51-point victory against the Clippers is put aside, the fans had few reasons to rejoice.
However, all that disappeared quickly as they defeated the Miami Heat 93-83 in a very low-scoring game. They successfully put Jimmy Butler to sleep by restricting him to just 2 points in his 27 minutes of play. Also, main man Luka Doncic shed off all the criticism by giving an all-round performance.

At the end of the first half, the Mavs were leading 46-31. That was when Luka attempted an easy reverse layup shot and missed it.
The Canadian player for the Miami Heat, Kelly Olynyk, in his attempt to block Luka’s layup, pushed him from behind and the Mavericks star lost his balance. This made Luka furious as he started yelling at the Heat squad and went on to kick an advertisement banner.

The Miami Heat tried everything in their capacity to bounce back in the fourth quarter, but it was too late by then. For them, Bam Adebayo scored a double-double while all the other players failed to make a mark.

Luka Doncic’s attempt to shut his haters
After the first four games in the regular season 2020-21, Luka was averaging 43.8% from the field and a pitiful 9.5% from beyond the arc. Also, he was yet to score even a double-double. Naturally, these figures were very unlike-Luka and doubts were raised on his current form.

Perhaps, all that fueled the fire within him as the 21-YO scored 27 points, 15 rebounds, and 7 assists against the Heat with 30% (3/10) from downtown. At one point in the game, both teams had combined for 1/16 from the 3-pt range. Given this data, Luka’s figures look even more inflated and commendable.
