The NBA is home to the best of the best basketball players from around the world. The level of play is very high and the quality of players leads to some spectacular plays. There is no other league that can boast the talent the NBA has. But sometimes, despite having the best talent, the NBA has seen bizarre and shocking plays.
NBA Players are known to be ferocious dunkers. So many times, they have broken the backboard, the rim, or even the entire shooting stand itself.

The level of power on some of these dunks is absolutely insane. Sometimes they dunk it so hard, that the ball bounces off the ground really high after going through the ring. But sometimes they miss so hard that the ball goes out of the arena. And sometimes it might even just come back out of the basket.
Shocking scenes in the NBA as the ball jumps out after the dunk
One of such bizarre moments took place during the game between Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks. It was the second quarter, and the Heat were leading by 7. Kyle Lowry brings the ball up the court and he passes it to Jimmy Butler who is in the post. He sees an open Bam Adebayo who was unmarked after he made a burst to the ring. What happened next is something that you almost never see in the NBA.
Jimmy then passed it to Bam Adebayo, who was all set to throw it down. Bam then reverse dunked it and held on the ring, which meant that the ball didn’t have space to down. He threw it down so hard that the ball hit his shoulder and it popped right back in. No one in the arena realized it, and everyone thought that Bam had just missed the dunk. It was not until a replay on the big screen showed that the ball went in and came out, and the basket should have counted.

This play reminds one of James Harden against the San Antonio Spurs. Harden had a wide-open dunk, and he threw it down cleanly. But the ball had enough power and spin on it that it took the net with it and the ball popped out. They didn’t count that basket also, even after pleas from Harden and the rest.

The NBA might be home to the best, but even the best can make mistakes sometimes. After all, they are humans. But make no mistake, the number of mistakes is almost marginal compared to the insane plays that happen. The NBA is without a doubt the best league and it will most likely stay that way for a really long time. Even when the ball bounces out after a dunk.
