Stephen Curry isn?t exactly having a regular 2022-23 season for himself. The 34-year-old has played just 26 games this season and has been out of the squad since December 14th due to a shoulder injury. The Golden State Warriors superstar?s absence from the squad isn?t that concerning for the Dubs at the moment, as they continue to perform well. They are on a five-game winning streak after defeating the Atlanta Hawks recently. Meanwhile, a WNBA star has credited much of this performance to how the absence of Curry has changed the roles in the squad.

NBA analyst and former Los Angeles Sparks player Chiney Ogwumike spoke after the Warriors’ win against the Hawks recently and dissected how the roles in the team have changed since Curry?s injury. The WNBA star articulated the exact reasons for her opinion in what could be construed as a divisive take by some fans.

Stephen Curry is still waiting to get back from injury after suffering a labral subluxation in the game against Indiana Pacers last month. The Warriors have been lethal and dangerous since then, winning six of their nine matches. Ogwumike mentioned how the injury, although unfortunate, has brought the Warriors on track.

?This without Steph has been a blessing in disguise for the Warriors,? said Ogwumike. She further added, ?If you think about Klay, he?s getting more reps, finding his rhythm quicker. If you think about Draymond, they?ve realized, ?Hey, maybe it?s not a guard. That is our secondary facilitator when Steph is out, maybe it?s Draymond.? And you see Draymond with commandeering.?

The Sparks star added how Green is the squad?s ?engine? and how he might be the anchor for the team at this time. There might be some truth to her statements, but it wouldn?t be fair to imply that the Warriors are a better team without the Baby-Faced assassin.

?Although Curry isn?t on-court, he isn?t completely absent from sight. The NBA superstar is trying his best to motivate his team into a smooth-flowing run without him, while he can?t wait to be on the team. A week ago, coach Steve Kerr mentioned how Curry?s rehab is going well, and how he?s putting in a lot of ?good work?.

Even though Ogwumike put across valid points, many would feel that Curry has a lot left to give this season and his absence could cost the Dubs dearly if some of the stars didn’t step up to the plate so well.
