Stephen Curry has been the face of the league for the last decade. Through his on-court excellence and out-of-world shooting, Curry has won the hearts of millions of fans worldwide. No fan today would even dare to exclude the 4x NBA champion among the league’s best players. But in 2013, ringless Curry was denied the honor of representing his conference on All-star weekend.

Bearing the title of ‘best shooter ever,’ Stephen Curry, over the years, has found immense success in the league. Curry today is a guaranteed pick for the All-star and All-NBA teams, but it wasn’t always this easy for the 6’2” point guard. Stephen Curry was not happy after not being selected for the All-star team in 2013

Stephen Curry had already taken over the helm of the Golden State Warriors franchise. With a borderline star point guard in Curry and a young core of promising talent, the Warriors rose through the ranks in the first half of the decade. In 2013, the Warriors had a breakthrough season led by Curry and Co. They finished the season with a record of 47-35. However, it still wasn’t enough to impress the voters.

Curry sat down with Sam Alipour for an interview with ESPN magazine in 2013. In the interview, Curry and Alipour touched on various topics. In one part of the interview, Alipour asked Curry how he felt about being left out of the All-star team the previous season. The 2x NBA MVP admitted to being disappointed after finding out; he said, “It did bother me when it all went down. There was just so much buildup to selection day about how I was for sure on the team, and we were playing great ball.”?However, Curry found solace in the fact that one cannot control these things.?

Since the snub in 2013, Curry has not once been left out of the All-star team in the last eight years. In that span, Curry has also added 8x All-NBA selections, 2x NBA regular season MVPs, 2x scoring titles, 4x NBA titles, and a finals MVP. Many consider Curry to be the greatest shooter of all time.
