Stephen Curry and LeBron James have crossed each other’s paths many times. Both of them are modern-day greats of the sport and have achieved all the accomplishments one can in their field. There, of course, is a raging debate between fans about who is the greater player.
The debate was quiet for some time due to the Warriors not performing well in the last two-three years. But it has raised its head again as Golden State progressed towards the NBA Finals last night. Curry was especially instrumental for his team, this time around.

Meanwhile, LeBron had to face a sour time with the Lakers. He had a great individual season, but the Los Angeles Lakers ended up at the 11th spot, missing the play-ins and the playoffs. Because of their contrasting fortunes, this debate has come up again on the internet. Some say if Curry wins another ring, it will place him above LeBron. Former Warriors legend Rick Barry disagrees with this notion.
“I think you’re bringing up a subject that I don’t agree with at all, to be honest. Why is it that someone who wins championships gets better recognition than a guy who doesn’t win championships? He didn’t win by himself,” the Warriors legend told the JR SportBrief show.
“And if you’re lucky enough to have good teammates, a team that makes good personnel decisions, how does that make you better than someone who doesn’t have championships?” he added.
Rick Barry mentions that it doesn’t make any sense at all to give any extra credit for being on a championship team. He said, in the end, “Unless you’re on a team that didn’t have many good players and you carried them to championships – that’s one thing… I think they give way too much recognition and credit to the people who’re lucky enough to be on championship teams.”

The Golden State Warriors are back in the NBA finals after a hiatus of two years. A revamped team that still features the old core of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green achieved this through a 120-110 victory in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals. They won the series 4-1, which is considered a gentlemen’s sweep.
Klay Thompson was the best player of that game with 32 points on a dozen buckets. Curry was awarded the inaugural West Finals MVP award. He averaged 23.8 points with 7.4 assists and 6.6 rebounds.
