NBA’s Shooting King – Stephen Curry
Curry’s emergence in the NBA showed fans, players, coaches, and critics alike the importance and effectiveness of having a strong three-point shot. With Klay Thompson by his side, the splash brothers took the NBA by storm.
Although teams did have specialize shooters, the ability to shoot a three-pointer consistently well, shifted the focus of teams from big-men to guards. Additionally, there has also been the emergence of big-men who can shoot from distance. This allows players to space the floor, giving them more opportunities for high-percentage shots.
Additionally, Stephen Curry adds to his team’s offense using his passing ability. His assists have created 646 points for the Warriors this season. This, when combined with the total points he has scored so far, amounts to 34.3% of all points scored by the Warriors.
Moreover, the ‘Baby-Faced Assassin’ can score in a variety of ways. He can drive to the basket, shoot of the dribble, hit floaters, and move off the ball behind screens. Here’s a look at a shooting heat map of all the shots he has made in his career so far.
