The Warriors dynasty might be on fumes. Yes, we’ve heard that line a thousand times before. But this time, it might be for real. After a mediocre regular season and a disappointing playoff exit, the chances of a comeback story were slim. What was once the gold standard of NBA basketball might be reduced to just another team. The Warriors have enjoyed a dynastic run. With Steph, Klay, and Draymond Green running the show, they went to 5 straight Finals winning 3 of them. While the 2-year lull in between seemed like the end, last year’s miraculous run defined another story. However, it seems like the run is finally over. And unfortunately, the crumbling began way back at the start of the year.
Where does the centerpiece, the man many call the second most important figure of the run, fit into this decline?

The days since the Warriors’ 4-2 collapse against the Lakers haven’t been kind to them. First, Coach Kerr admitted that the team wasn’t good enough. Next came Draymond Green’s admission to his role in the collapse. Pointing to the punch on Jordan Poole as the catalyst, Draymond conceded that the moment ruined the team’s once-famous chemistry.

The entire season, the Warriors didn’t look right. While they made the playoffs, their record was average, and their road record was historically bad. After Bob Myers’ departure, the latest domino might be on the verge of falling. As the new CBA takes effect and skyrockets the luxury tax, the Warriors have a choice to make.
With the majority of the roster looked up for next season, Green’s contract might cause issues. After he made it clear that he wants an extension last season, it seems like Green is looking to opt out of his $26 million player option. The move would make him a free agent and eligible for a contract upwards of 200 million.
As news broke out for the same, fans were quick to jump on the team, calling for an official end of the dynasty.
NBA fans react to the news
One fan was simple, calling their demise. “Warriors finished” as he captioned it.
Some were quick to jump to fantasy boards. “Not going cap it would be kinda crazy if the lakers get Draymond and Christ Paul in minimum Vet contracts”.?
A fan argued that moving on from the Warriors might signal an end for Dray. “Him leaving would be the beginning to the end of his career.”??

Some fans argued for the opposite, however. They pointed to the lack of a considerable market for him and how that could factor into his staying put.
“Not a dray/warriors fan (Memphis fan) but everyone dumb if they think dray leaving, he?s just going to do what?s best for that team and taking less money, he loves GSW”?
