In recent years, the music world has unfortunately lost many rappers to violence. And another one was added to the list when famous Philadelphia rapper, PnB Rock met his demise in a restaurant in Los Angeles. This isn’t the first instance, and it seems Los Angeles Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is furious.

Rakim Allen, better known as PnB Rock, was a popular rap artist from Philadelphia. Rising to fame through his melodic style, the 30-year-old was only just coming up. The music artist was shot as a man tried to steal his valuables from him. The robbery allegedly found the rapper’s location as it was tagged on a social media post.

Likewise, suffering another casualty, the hip-hop world paid its respects. However, Los Angeles Lakers great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar had a message for society during the dark times. Notably, he thoroughly cleared his stance against any kind of violence.

Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar sides with education

A long-time social activist, Abdul-Jabbar has never been afraid to put his views forward. Likewise, fellow rapper Darryl McDaniels broke down the hip-hop world,  in which the DMC rapper spoke about the change in the message of hip-hop. What started as a movement to stop violence is now promoting the use of violence, according to the 58-year-old. The powerful message caught the eye of the NBA’s All-Time leading scorer.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar took to Twitter and pinned down a short yet crisp message. He said: “Education is cool. Violence & drugs are for fools.”

The hip-hop community has suffered significant losses since 2018 to gun violence. Notably, since 2018, at least one rap artist has died due to gun violence each year. The trend dates back to the killing of XXXTentacion who was just 20 at the time. The NBA felt the shockwaves when Nipsey Hussle suffered a similar fate in 2019. Many players mourned the loss of the basketball-loving community artist.

And it looks like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has had enough of it. Having lost so many, the hip-hop community is arguably in a state of distress. A father to two little daughters, PnB Rock’s death truly shook many, including those of the basketball and NBA community.
