?Very Intimidating Dude? Michael Jordan Was ?Awestruck? and Overwhelmed While Talking About His 81-Year-Old Mother, Says Matt Damon

The now 81-year-old Deloris Jordan played an important role in NBA icon and Hall of Famer Michael Jordan‘s life. The former Chicago Bulls player might have never pocketed millions from the Nike?Air Jordan brand if his mother hadn’t guided him on the right path. Moreover, Deloris molded the six-time champion into a fierce competitor that perhaps developed his insatiable hunger for winning. Academy Award-winning actor Matt Damon recently revealed how Jordan appeared while speaking about his mother when Ben Affleck went to talk to him for their new movie.

Air: Courting a Legend, directed by Affleck, came out in theatres yesterday and has received positive feedback from movie buffs across the country. Damon plays an important role in the film along with Affleck himself, Viola Davis and Chris Tucker, among others. The movie tells the story of how Nike and former sports executive Sonny Vaccaro pursued a rookie MJ and eventually collaborated with him for a blockbuster deal that went on to revolutionize the sneakers industry.

Matt Damon discloses how Michael Jordan appeared while speaking about his mother

Damon recently sat down for a chat with Jimmy Fallon on his Tonight Show.?During their discussion, Fallon asked him as to who had met Jordan to talk about the film – him or Ben Affleck. The 52-year-old actor revealed that Affleck had met Jordan and added that during the meeting, the Argo?star had asked the six-time champion as to what the most important thing that Damon and him should keep in mind while making the movie was.

Damon revealed that the NBA legend wanted Affleck to keep three things in mind: “Howard White, who is an executive that Chris Tucker plays in the movie…George Raveling, who Marlon Wayans plays. George Raveling is the first person to talk to Michael about Nike. And then he [Michael Jordan] talked at length about his mother and that was kind of the critical thing.”

The?Elysium?star continued, “It was like oh, wait a minute. You know to see like Michael who’s a very intimidating dude, suddenly kind of awestruck and talk about his mom.” Damon finished by saying the 14x All-Star had the name of Viola Davis on the tip of his tongue immediately in response to Affleck’s question as to who they should get to play the role of Deloris Jordan!

Jordan paid tribute to his mother in 2021

As is well-known by fans of Michael Jordan, Deloris played a huge role in her son’s success. Therefore, His Airness decided to commemorate his mother with the release of the Dear Deloris sneakers in 2021. These sneakers were released not only in honor of his mother but to pay tribute to everyone who helped him become an NBA icon.

The sneakers, apart from bearing the iconic Jumpman logo in place of the Nike Swoosh mark, have the name of Jordan’s mother imprinted on them.
