Kevin Durant is one of the most unstoppable scorers in NBA history. KD is 2 time NBA champion, 2-time finals MVP, 12 time NBA all-star, 4-time scoring champion, and an MVP. In his 13 years in the NBA, KD has seen all the success.

Even now, at the age of 33, KD is far from over. KD is also one of the most humble and down-to-earth NBA stars. He has his own swagger and does trash talk, but he has always remembered how he made it to the big stage. All this was clear when he gave his MVP speech back in 2014.

Kevin Durant in the 2013-2014 season was the first player since Allen Iverson in 2001 to win both the MVP and the scoring title in the same season. KD had made a mention of what all he had to grow through as a child.

He mentioned how being a coach was his actual life goal, but he knows how grateful he has been. He thanked his mother and how she had to cope with everything in his childhood, which was something that brought him pain.

Kevin Durant brings his pain into words.

KD has never talked about his father much, but it has been for a long time now since KD’s father was not available to him all throughout his life.

KD once talked about his father and shared the pain he had to go through. He shared, “I remember we were driving home one day, and I look over out the backseat, and I see him in a car with his homeboys at the light. I wanted to be like, ‘Ma, that’s Dad, right?’ But I didn’t say anything. Mom didn’t want to talk about it.”

His dad lived in the neighborhood, but not with them.

During the 2013-14 MVP speech, KD was very emotional from the get-go, which was a little unusual because of how composed and collected he always is. He was feeling the emotions flow through as his whole life before that special moment of winning the MVP flashed before his eyes.
