NBA legend Michael Jordan has inspired millions across generations through his cut-throat approach to achieving greatness in life. The former Chicago Bulls superstar spent almost two decades playing in the league and by the time he retired from the sport, he had significantly changed the way people viewed the game of basketball. A certain Olympic-medalist gymnast, who’s friends with popular gymnast Simone Biles, recently expressed her fandom for His Airness and proclaimed an MJ desire that she harbors in her heart.
26-year-old Simone Biles is one of the most distinguished artistic gymnasts who has won four gold, one silver, and two bronze Olympic medals to date. Her close friend, Jordan Chiles, has also made her mark in the world of gymnastics with a silver medal in the Olympics representing the USA. She recently addressed being named after Michael Jordan and her wish relating to the Bulls legend.

Jordan Chiles made her NCAA debut in January, 2022 and shortly after that, she scored her first perfect 10 during a meet against Utah. The 22-year-old gymnast got her name from, you guessed it right, His Airness himself. Chiles’ mom was a huge Michael Jordan fan and she decided to name her daughter after the 6x NBA champion. Chiles spilled all the lesser-known facts about her during an exclusive interview with PEOPLE.
During the interaction, she revealed her desire to meet MJ one day and said, “I’m crossing my fingers that I’ll actually be able to meet him and just get his advice for being somebody that looks up to him, what he gives out.”
Being named after one of the greatest athletes of all time, gives Chiles all the necessary motivation to keep grinding to improve her craft. “I love being challenged in a way, so I’m going to do anything very challenging and see where it takes me,” Chiles said, during the interview. “That’s what I’ve been doing with my sport ? I’m going to challenge myself 24/7 and just see how everything turns out.”
Chiles will soon begin her preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics once the college season concludes.
