When Charles Barkley speaks, many things can happen. He may talk about basketball and sporting insights, or he may wreak havoc on others because of his candor. But, one thing’s for sure, Barkley doesn’t shy away. He’s one sportsperson cum celeb who doesn’t seem to be changing his behavior or perspectives anytime soon.

During a Katy Perry concert, Barkley faced heavy backlash. People booed him away when he spoke his mind about an NBA team. Who was the team Barkley was criticizing?

Well, it was the?Minnesota Timberwolves. But, despite the backlash, Charles isn’t backing down. In his recent appearance on Conan O’Brien’s podcast, Chuck spoke his mind. He was honest and true to his views. And of course, he addressed the issue. But, he added more spice to the already hot incident!

Charles Barkley and Minnesota Altercation

So, in the podcast, we can hear Charles and Conan having honest conversations about many things. Barkley is talking about his finances, his personal life, his peers, and a lot more. But Conan nudged the conversation to talk about the booing incident.

Well, you see, Barkley made a guest appearance at the Minneapolis Capital One Jam Fest in 2019. He was invited to the stage to address the crowd. He talks about how much he loves Minneapolis but then continued to insult the city’s famous NBA team.

His statement at the time was, ?I want to thank Minneapolis, Minnesota. You guys have a great, great city. I want to thank y?all for a great weekend. I haven?t been here for a long time because the Timberwolves suck!?

And of course, people did not take this lightly.

They later booed him off the stage. Barkley seemed surprised by the response he got since it was apparent through his facial expressions he wanted people to agree with what he said.

So, when Conan asked Barkley about the incident, he responds, ” You know, it’s so funny. When I travel now, I have friends who call me and say, ‘Yo man, I haven’t seen you in a long time. I say ‘My life is very simple. If your basketball team sucks, I am never going to see you again.”

Charles Criticises Timberwolves Again

Earlier this year, Charles repeated the same mistake. He criticized Minnesota Timberwolves for acquiring Rudy Gobert. This time. it happened on TNTs Inside the NBA. Barkley said, “The Timberwolves made the worst trade in NBA history… That was so stupid, that trade.”

Barkley knows NBA and basketball well. He has played sixteen seasons of the NBA and was the MVP of the NBA in 1993. He was also on the roster of the NBA’s 50th and 75th-anniversary teams, debuting in the NBA 1984 draft.

NBA legends who are on the other side of the mic routinely have to speak about the playing prowess of teams when they are speaking on the after-game shows. But they rarely speak about what a team is or isn’t when they are somewhere not related to the game. And to their credit, nobody from the Minnesota team has thought it wise to answer Barkley.
