The Brooklyn Nets can?t seem to catch a break so far. And it is not because of the recent loss they got handed, that too by the Los Angeles Lakers. But it is the off-the-court drama that has been bleeding the Nets dry. Point guard Kyrie Irving is still unavailable to play for the squad, the team is under a new coaching reign, and the Nets were once again short-handed with the absence of Ben Simmons.?

As per NBA Insider Shams Charania, there is still “uncertainty” surrounding Kyrie Irving?s return to the team. And that is undoubtedly a cause for concern for Kevin Durant and the rest of the Nets squad. In fact, that?s not all that Irving has cost the Nets.?
Potential return of Kyrie Irving still in the air for now
If Irving were still playing, the Nets were in favor of hiring former Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka. Charania revealed that the ball was already rolling in the direction of hiring Ime Udoka as the new head coach for the Nets before the front office had decided to fire Steve Nash.
Charania added that the whole Kyrie Irving situation was not as far along as it is now when the team decided to fire Steve Nash. Irving had another press conference after Nash?s firing and then he got himself suspended by the organization.
Charania said, ?There is an uncertainty as to whether and when he?ll come back and I think that has created some short and long-term question marks around their ability.“

“And so, if you?re looking at Ime Udoka, the win-now coach, if Kyrie Irving had been playing last week and everything was 100% fine and A-Okay with Kyrie Irving, you?re seeing Ime Udoka likely sliding in there, pretty quickly as head coach.?

?But the fact that there?s a lot of uncertainty right now on Kyrie Irving,? he added. Irving’s self-created problems are starting to affect even the Brooklyn Nets‘ decisions about the team?s future. As an All-Star and one of the highest-paid players on the roster, Irving should undoubtedly be on the floor, helping his teammates win games and making a positive impact on the court.
Instead, Kevin Durant has arguably been forced to run a solo show with little to no help lately. The Nets are 6-8 for the season so far after losing their last game 103-116 to the Los Angeles Lakers. Even after the Lakers were playing without their leading scorer, LeBron James, the Nets were just not able to close out the game with a victory.
