

WNBA star Brittney Griner has spent a long time in prison. Spending time in such a hostile environment is no easy task and Griner’s support system during this time has been her wife.
Griner married Cherelle in 2019 after initially meeting at Baylor University. The two were not a couple back then and their first close moment came after Griner had an argument with her father.

Brittney Griner’s father, Raymond Griner is quite accepting of his daughter currently. However, this wasn’t the case in the past. Their difference in thinking led to numerous arguments.
In her book In My Skin: My Life On and Off the Basketball Court, Griner talked about the day she had a fight with her father. Following this, she texted her future wife and asked her whether she is willing to dye her hair or not.

Griner wrote, “The day I got into it with my dad, I texted Cherelle and said, “You still going to dye my hair?” She had offered to color my hair at some point, I was always looking for people to help me out with that, and I felt like I needed to do something to calm me down and turn my mood around.”

After Griner’s controversial arrest earlier this year, Cherelle has been a major source of support for the WNBA star. Moreover, she has been involved in numerous interviews that gave people updates regarding Griner’s situation.
Brittney Griner was on a call with Cherelle while in prison
Brittney Griner‘s wife Cherelle gave some major updates regarding her wife a few weeks ago. According to her, Griner is “at her absolute weakest moment in life right now.”

Moreover, she described their conversation as “the most disturbing call I’ve ever experienced.“On the 25th of October, the court rejected Griner’s plea and upheld its decision of sentencing the Phoenix Mercury star to nine years in prison.
Despite this disturbing update, hope still prevails. Griner can return back to the United States of America in case the officials can negotiate a prisoner swap deal.
