Ben Simmons was the talk of the town in Philadelphia recently, but for all the wrong reasons. Earlier in the week, Simmons returned to his former team that drafted him over half a decade ago. Going into the game, Simmons drew much attention on the national stage across mediums. 4x NBA champion Shaquille O’Neal also gave his two cents and, like always, made some pointed remarks at the young guard.

After a tumultuous off-season, the Ben Simmons – Philly saga came to an unfortunate end last year. The All-star point guard went to the Brooklyn Nets to play alongside Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. However, Simmons took a massive hit to his reputation following the drama with the 76ers. Moreover, he has received major backlash from Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal on numerous occasions on the issue. Recently, the Big Fella addressed the issue once again.
Shaquille O’Neal and his crew were back on the ‘Big Podcast’ this week with a fresh episode. The trio of Shaq, Nischelle Turner and Spice Adams, addressed the infamous and much-anticipated matchup that took place on Wednesday between the 76ers and the Brooklyn Nets. While discussing Ben Simmons’s return to the city, O’Neal ridiculed Ben Simmons for reportedly not leaving his hotel.

While talking about Simmons’s apparent refusal to leave the confines of his hotel room, the trio had an amusing exchange after O’Neal made a humorous comparison. After talking offense to Spice Adams’ words, “If you were Ben Simmons,”?O’Neal quickly corrected Adams, “First of all, I’m not Ben Simmons.“
Moreover, he further added, “Hey, stop; I am Wesley Snipes, and he is El DeBarge, so cut it out.” Following O’Neal’s appalling comparison, Turner and Adams broke into laughter.?
O’Neal justified his comparison to Hollywood and Martial arts legend Wesley Snipes by reflecting on an NBA Finals incident in Philadelphia. In stark contrast to Simmons, Shaq revealed how during the 2001 NBA finals, he once walked down the streets of Philly despite humiliating them in the Finals. He ended the tangent with some advice on surviving in the streets and wished the best for Simmons. Moreover, when prompted, O’Neal also predicted a stat line of 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists.

In the game on Wednesday, Ben Simmons fell short of O’Neal’s prediction. The former no.1 overall pick put up 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 11 assists in a losing effort.
