The 2023 NBA draft was brimming with talent. Yes, Victor Wembanyama was the freak talent who had all the eyes. Yet there were still the college stars who had captured the attention of scouts and the NBA teams. One of the ‘steals’ in the draft might be Amari Bailey, a UCLA guard who was once a teammate of Bronny James. His Sierra Canyon brother was elated hearing Bailey’s name in the draft. As he prepares to begin his journey with Michael Jordan and the Charlotte Hornets, the 19-year-old also got a wish from LeBron James.
The Los Angeles Lakers forward has watched Bailey’s flashy passing and lethal left-handed jumper up close. Posting an Instagram story, the four-time MVP relayed just how amazed he is by the UCLA guard’s recent achievement.

Apart from basketball, Bailey is recognized for his relationship with rap sensation, Drake. The musician actually took his mother Johanna Leia on a romantic date booking out the Dodger Stadium only to enjoy a dinner.
The rapper and Bailey have since developed a very close relationship. Drake even gifted him a custom OVO chain. He has also attended numerous Sierra Canyon games to cheer for the 6-foot-5 guard.
Bailey’s hard work reaped rewards three days ago when he heard his name echo through the arena with the 41st pick. MJ and the Hornets selected him after acquiring star guard Brandon Miller with the second selection in the draft.
Celebrating the 19-year-old’s tremendous feat, LeBron James dedicated an Instagram story for the young man. “Yessir!!! Proud of you nephew” wrote the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.
James has now witnessed three of his elder son’s teammates fulfill their NBA dream.
While the King awaits Bronny’s arrival desperately, he did admit to being baffled playing his friends in the NBA.
