It has been only a few days since the Toronto Raptors sacked their head coach, Nick Nurse. The Raptors made the massive move after they got knocked out of the season without making it to the playoffs. Ever since they sacked the 2019 championship-winning coach, the Toronto side has been on the run to find a replacement for the 2020 Coach of the Year. Meanwhile, the NBA world exposed the franchise’s infamous history with coaches. As another huge update of the Raptors’ ‘coach hunt’ hits the hoops world, a WNBA star has rushed in to open the floodgates for trolls.

As per the latest reports, the Toronto Raptors are making a move to interview WNBA legend Becky Hammon for the position of head coach. As the news gained traction on the Internet, Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson could not help but troll the Toronto side for their antics.

WNBA star trolls the Toronto Raptors

A’ja Wilson has been dominating the WNBA hardwood for some time now. She won both the MVP award and WNBA championship in 2022 with the Las Vegas Aces. The Aces and Wilson marched to the 2022 triumph with the solid backing from their head coach, Becky Hammon.

Now that the Raptors are aiming for a thorough rebuild, it is obvious that they need a championship-winning coach to fill Nick Nurse’s shoes.

Word got out that the Raptors got permission to interview Becky Hammon for the head coaching position. Bleacher Report tweeted a picture of Hammon and wrote, “Raptors received permission to interview Becky Hammon for their HC position, via @wojespn.“?“Hammon won the WNBA championship with the Las Vegas Aces in her first season as coach,” BR added in the tweet.?

The update, however, did not sit well with 2x-WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson. The Aces star took to Twitter and retweeted BR’s tweet, saying, “yes, Im trolling cause stop it lmao.”?

She also added to the reply a gif of a cartoon character giving a thumbs down. However, facing flak for their ‘coach hunting’ endeavours is not a new affair for the Canadian franchise.

Toronto Raptors’ infamous history with coaches got exposed once

The Raptors are the only side to have housed two Coach of the Year winners in the last six seasons. Nonetheless, the Northern side had infamously sacked both of the award-winning coaches. Despite Dwane Casey winning the Coach of the Year award in the 2017-18 season with the Raptors, the franchise had shown him the door soon. Things were no different for Nick Nurse who had replaced Casey. Nurse won the COTY award and an NBA championship with the Toronto side, only to get sacked after a lackluster season.

After this bizarre history of the 2019 NBA champions got exposed, numerous fans rushed in to call them out. The Raptors still continue to be the butt of jokes as A’ja Wilson ridiculed their attempts to bring her coach to Toronto. Fans will now have to wait and see how long the Raptors’ quest to find a coach will last.
