The Crypto.com Arena had the Los Angeles Lakers (19-24) play against the Houston Rockets (10-34) tonight. LeBron James‘ Lakers are currently the 13th seed in the Western Conference, a far cry from the top playoff contenders they were in the past seasons. The Rockets are at the bottom tier with a winning percentage of .233. Charles Barkley recently commented on their matchup on the latest NBA on TNT episode.
Chuck compared the game between the Lakers and the Rockets to “two ugly girls fighting“. Last month, Barkley had claimed there was a conspiracy within the league to give the Lakers more air-time. “The Lakers stink, yet [the NBA is] forcing us to show ’em all the time like they’re gonna be good“, he added.

“Nobody cares who wins“, Barkley said. This is not the first time that he has expressed his strong opinion about the franchise. Charles Barkley seemed like he was fed up talking about the Lakers, and said they were almost compelled to talk about them every day, and those who do are “clowns”.
Sports Illustrated notably wrote that the franchise has arguably a big fanbase. So, the decision to hold many national games would probably make sense, “but the reality is they are currently on the outside of the play-in tournament picture.” Barkley did not stop there. He also succinctly pointed out that the commentators don’t talk about bottom-tier teams in the Eastern Conference.
“We don’t talk about the Washington Wizards, do we? Ever?“, asked Chuck. He added, “But for some reason these morning talk shows and us, we have to show the Lakers all the time. The Lakers stink.”
How are the teams faring?
It is no secret that the Los Angeles Lakers have struggled to keep their players healthy. Their front office is also trying to keep up with an efficient roster. But with several trade rumors and their intermittent form, many believe that LeBron James’ last prime years are being wasted.
