NBA superstar LeBron James is currently one of the oldest players in the league and is playing in his 20th season. The four-time NBA champion’s longevity and performances at the highest level, despite being 38, are things many marvel at. Young players in the team and even opponents can learn a lot from a superstar veteran like James. However, one of his teammates recently talked about learning an interesting technique from superstars, James Harden and Trae Young.
Harden and Young are masters of their crafts as well. The Beard was unstoppable on the offensive end during his prime. Trae is one of the best scorers in the league currently. However, there is one thing in common between the two stars and it has been a source of a lot of ridicule for the NBA world.

James Harden and Trae Young are two of the best shot creators, even though Harden has become more of a facilitator in recent times. However, the two are often criticized by fans for the number of free throws and foul calls they get each game. This was especially true for Harden during his prime with the Houston Rockets. Young, on the other hand, also gets a considerable amount of free throws. Fans criticize both players for their ability to draw fouls. However, Austin Reaves is apparently a huge fan.

According to a tweet from Jova Buha of The Athletic, Reaves said that he studied Harden and Young to become better at drawing fouls. This comes after Reaves scored a career-high 35 points, making 16 of 18 free throws to help the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Orlando Magic 111-105.
The shooting guard carried his team during the final stretch of the game to keep the hopes of reaching the play-in tournament alive. Even LeBron James was impressed with the performance of Reaves.
Fans trolled Reaves, Harden, and Young
James Harden was unstoppable and had almost every move in his arsenal during his prime. From his unbelievable step-back-3s to mid-range jumpers to finishes around the bucket, very few could stop him. And when an opponent tried, he was most often awarded free throws. In 2021, it was revealed The Beard had drawn more 3-point fouls than every team since he entered the league. So there has always been criticism that he leans into defenders to draw fouls. The same goes for Trae Young as well. So when Austin Reaves stated that he studied Harden and Young after making 16 free throws, fans were not impressed. Here are some reactions:

While many fans called them “foul merchants,” others stated that it was obvious that Reaves would study Harden and Young in order to get more calls.
