Every single time Klay Thompson trends on social media, Dubs fans start hoping that he has miraculously healed from his ACL and is making his big comeback.
However, that isn’t the case, at least this time. In fact, Thompson is making headlines right now for other reasons altogether. Some have taken it in a good way, but some people can’t digest how Klay ended up on the 2021 All-Star list.

Why is Klay getting votes surprising? Well, Thompson has not played since the 2019 NBA Finals. The shooting guard tore his ACL while playing for the Golden State Warriors and is currently rehabbing.
But it looks like some fans haven’t forgotten the star who led the Warriors to championships.
So, despite being absent, the 30-year-old has earned 99,094 votes and is standing tenth in the Western Conference guards that are being voted for the NBA All-Star game next month.
The All-Star voting has always been done more on the basis of popularity than on merit. As unfair as that sounds, that’s the reality. And now, the reality has struck many fans because of Klay Thompson landing a place in the voting list; needless to say, they aren’t very pleased. Hence, they took to Twitter to poke fun and show their disappointment at the first round of voting that was released.

We live in a world where Klay Thompson is in the top 10 in fan voting for their conference despite not playing for 2 years and Khris Middleton isn't despite being the 2nd best player on the 2nd best team in his conference 😂 pic.twitter.com/nfd4fJT4w0

Another Warriors star on the list
It isn’t likely that Thompson will get named an All-Star, even if he racks up a few more fan votes. He is far behind Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who has 99,286 votes. However, this doesn’t mean Golden State fans are at a loss.
Not to anybody’s surprise, Stephen Curry is leading the voting. This will be the superstar’s seventh All-Star nod and just like before, he will be part of the starting lineup too.

Curry has received over 2.1 million votes, which puts him second among players in the West after LeBron James. In fact, he is third in the league behind Bron and Kevin Durant. While Steph’s destiny has already been laid out, do you think Klay deserved to be on the list?
