The players in the NBA move at incredible speeds and you have to have a very good eye to officiate the game. And the NBA does have some excellent referees who the players and coaches respect. But sometimes, these refs may have some brain fade moments, which can lead to humorous incidents. And that’s what exactly happened in the game between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Oklahoma City Thunder.
What happened in the third quarter between the Wolves and OKC?
It was late in the third quarter and the Wolves were up 99-83. Shai Gilgeous Alexander was bringing up the ball for OKC and gave the ball to Isaiah Roby who returned the ball to him. But Jordan McLaughlin intercepted the pass and set out on the fast break. What happened next was astonishing.

There were two OKC floor cleaners who were wiping up the other side of the court. They weren’t aware of the ball being turned over. As Jordan was bringing the ball up, he didn’t realize it either and bumped into one of the floor cleaners. Subsequently, the other cleaner scatters out of the court. Although McLaughlin manages to get a shot off, it was a rather difficult one. DeAngelo Russell got the rebound and attempted another shot, but he missed as well. The OKC was able to escape this turnover and have their cleaners to thank.

That shouldn’t have been the case, however, as the refs should have called a stoppage of play and assessed a technical foul on OKC. They didn’t seem bothered to call it and the players were stunned. Even the announcers were surprised there was no whistle. This was a horrible call by the refs and fans around the world were stunned.
