Lately, Shaq has been all over the headlines due to his personal life. First came the surprising images of him and Brittany Renner seemingly going out that left the NBA world stunned. Soon after, the infamous DMs with the ‘Home Depot girl’ became viral. However, he utilized the immediate popularity of the Home Depot incident to film a music video there. The video became so famous that American rapper Russ even commented on it.

On the MoTalk podcast, Shaq opened up about his relationship with his ex-wife, Shaunie. He said, “You love for your woman whether you’re together or you’re not I think that’s the problem with…Men, you broke up. Nope! Whatever she needs, whatever the babies need, I’m gonna be there forever.”

Going a step further, Shaq said that he felt similarly for his first love, Arnetta Yardbourgh. “The thing goes with my uh my first, first love, Arnetta. So, imma always be there for them. They want to get married and you know find people better than me-I understand that, I accept that.” Arnetta gave birth to Shaq’s firstborn, Taahirah O’Neal, in July 1996, the summer he moved to the Los Angeles Lakers.

The comments further highlight what a true gem at heart Shaquille O’Neal is. Thankfully, this time around, he was careful with the words he spoke.

Shaq’s comments about Shaunie raise eyebrows

A few days ago, Shaq had some words about his ex-wife Shaunie Henderson. The 48-year-old is happily married to Keion Henderson. However, Shaq’s comments were taken a little out of context.

While his initial comments were similar to the ones he made with Monica, stating, “Shaunie’s married. I’m happy for her… I’m going to still love her.” He continued, “She’s still my wife. I will always protect, provide and love her.”
