The Golden State Warriors had the last laugh against the Sacramento Kings. The first six games between the Northern California sides swung like a pendulum. It took Game 7 for the Warriors to put the tie to bed. At the heart of the defending champions’ triumph is their centerpiece Stephen Curry. The baby-faced assassin ran riot on the court, netting a playoff career-high 50 points. The 35-year-old’s impressive performance led head coach, Steve Kerr, to draw parallels with his former teammate Michael Jordan.
Steve Kerr and the Warriors have become habitual of Stephen Curry’s solo exploits. However, way before Kerr donned the coach’s hat, the former Bulls player had seen similar sublime standalone displays from his former teammate. After his recent showdown against the Kings, Stephen Curry, according to Kerr, mirrored the legacy of MJ.

Steve Kerr has won five NBA titles as a player, and four as a coach. Interestingly, Kerr may owe a part of his phenomenal success to Michael Jordan and Stephen Curry. The 57-year-old has won four NBA titles each with both Jordan and Curry. Soon after the Warriors eliminated their neighbors in the series, the Dubs coach was asked if he found Stephen Curry’s latest performance surprising.
“He doesn’t surprise me, we all take him for granted because he is brilliant night after night. We have been watching this for 10 years. You just have to remind yourself, every once in a while, big picture, this is one of the great players in the history of the game. But that’s how I felt you know back in my playing days with Michael Jordan, you would see it night after night, so you just took it for granted. So that’s how it is with Steph,” said the head coach.
Having had illustrious stints with both Michael Jordan and Stephen Curry, Steve Kerr has historically been bringing the two superstars into the same conversation.

The American coach recollected going into a game with the Bulls to see almost half of the crowd donning MJ’s iconic number 23 jersey. Drawing a comparison to Jordan, Kerr now sees most fans wearing Stephen Curry’s number 30 jersey.
