The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly interested in acquiring the 11-year-old veteran from the New York Knicks, Alec Burks. The Lakers have one of the highest salary caps and they do not have any space to sign anyone noteworthy. Instead, they have to rely on veteran talent and players with Mid-level exceptions in the contract.

The gold and purple team has struggled mightily this season and is currently in the ninth spot in the West. They have been hampered by injuries to star players and they still haven’t found a way to integrate Russell Westbrook into the lineup. They have tried to find players that can help them in the trade market but have so far been unable to do so. With the trade deadline looming, the 17-time world champions will need to hurry to find players that can salvage their season.
Alec Burks is one such player that fits the mold. He is a savvy veteran who is also a good three-point shooter. The Lakers have solid depth in that department in the backcourt, but their frontcourt has been an issue. Burks can help the Lakers in that aspect.
Los Angeles Lakers need to find a package to trade for Alec Burks
Alec Burks is on a three-year contract for 30 million and the Knicks are desperate to clear out space for Cam Reddish. The Lakers will need to offer one or more players to match Burks contract, but they must also be cautious in not including any young talent. With the trade deadline on Thursday, the Lakers will need to hurry to make a move for Burks.

The most worrying part about the Lakers maybe their lack of identity. The previous Laker teams were excellent on defense and they would outwork you every night. But this time around, the Lakers are neither good defensively nor bring the effort on a nightly basis.
