The 2022 NBA playoffs are officially underway. And the Golden State Warriors took on the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs. Stephen Curry was returning from injury, but he started from the bench. But it was another star’s night as he carried the Warriors to victory.
Warriors guard Jordan Poole had a standout game as he helped the Warriors to secure a 123-107 victory. Poole shined in his playoff debut as he scored 30 points on 9-13 shooting. He was lights out from three-point land as he went 5-7 from that distance. Curry had a decent outing as he finished with 16 points while Klay Thompson added in 19 points. The game was neck and neck until the half, after which the Warriors took the lead and never looked back. League MVP Nikola Jokic finished with 25 points and 10 rebounds, but he did not have enough help from his teammates. Game 2 of this series is on Monday as the Warriors will look to take a commanding 2-0 lead.

Poole’s rise to stardom
The Warriors selected Poole with the No 28 pick in the 2019 NBA draft. They had just lost in the Finals and Klay had just torn his ACL. Later Kevin Durant would leave the Warriors to join Brooklyn. And with that, the Warriors super team era was officially over.
Poole averaged only 8.8 points as a rookie. It seemed like he wasn’t ready for the biggest level and he went back to the G League. And then he came a changed player, and the rest is history. Poole has been a star for the Warriors this season and he is averaging over 18 points per game. He is one of the favorites for the Most Improved Player award. He has shined as a sixth man and when he has started, he has taken his game to the next level.

But Poole has only one thing on his mind, which is to get a championship to the Bay Area. And he has been playing hard to achieve that. The Warriors will hope that he can continue this incredible rise as they challenge for the 2021-2022 NBA title.
