“Trade Him, Start the Rebuild Now”: NBA Twitter Has Had Enough as Yet Another Setback Awaits LeBron James’ Lakers After Russell Westbrook

It would perhaps be unfair to scapegoat Russell Westbrook and blame him entirely for the Lakers’ losses this season. But it wouldn’t be unfair to point out that Westbrook’s mishaps and errors on the court have contributed in a big way to the Lakers currently sitting 0-4 in the season. Furthermore, his teammate Anthony Davis, who joined the Lakers in 2019, has also received his fair share of criticism for how the Lakers have performed since winning the title in 2020. But his career has been punctured with many health concerns.

Hall of Famer, Charles Barkley wished that LeBron James would chide his teammate and beg him to pick up the slack. He confessed that he thought Davis would be a great player, but that no longer holds water.

Fans are seemingly fed up and frustrated with Anthony Davis‘ performances. They are pleading and begging that he gets traded. Lakers fans want the team to rebuild as the season has just started. Davis’ liability with injuries came to the fore once again. In the recent game against the Denver Nuggets, Davis was seen holding his back, seemingly in pain, after hanging on to the rim.

After Russell Westbrook, fans want Anthony Davis out too

Russell Westbrook has averaged just about a mere 10.3 points per game along with 4.3 assists so far this season. Westbrook’s athleticism has become rigid, earning him the title of ‘Westbrick’. Anthony Davis has slightly more points per game, but he has not been in the best shape either.

Many people have debated the longevity of Russell Westbrook on the team. Now they are adding Davis’ name into the fire as well. After his latest apparent injury, fans seemed to have enough as they shared their views online.

The Los Angeles Lakers have been riddled with players having several health issues.

Former Lakers player Lamar Odom voiced his opinion on the matter as well. He said that even Kobe Bryant would have the same sentiments. Davis’ inability to stay healthy would have played a huge role in his being traded, Odom said. Davis has only played 76 games during the last two seasons. Odom believes that trading Anthony Davis would “shake things up”. He also said that he means no ill will or disrespect toward the player.

Is a trade on the cards for Westbrook?

Additionally, there have also been predictions that Russell Westbrook could be traded to either the Indiana Pacers or the San Antonio Spurs. And to top it off, he missed the game against the Nuggets after being reported unfit due to a hamstring injury. NBA source believes that Austin Reaves could possibly take the place of Westbrook moving forward.

With no wins so far this season, LeBron James and the Lakers will be hoping to turn things around immediately and get their first win under their belt.
