NBA legend Dwyane Wade is the current talk of the town and for a very good reason. The former Miami Heat superstar spent 16 years playing in the league and his contribution to the game of basketball was recently recognized. The 3x champion made headlines after he was inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame, prompting a string of stories and interviews. In one such interview, Wade opened up about the significant honor and shared his thoughts on reaching a major milestone.

Wade entered the league through the 2003 NBA Draft as the 5th overall pick. The same year, LeBron James was selected as the 1st overall pick. The superstar duo eventually became teammates when LeBron joined the Miami Heat in 2010. They led the team to two consecutive championship titles in 2012 and 2013.

The 2006 Finals MVP continued, “To be in this class with some of the greatest players, international players who ever played this game, with Tony, Pau, and Dirk. It’s just, I’m like a kid in a candy store right now. I’m just super honored to be, you know, a part of this class.”

The interviewer then asked Wade what his first thought was when he received the big news through the call. The 41-year-old replied that the first memory that surfaced was the moment he realized his love for basketball. Wade also talked about his younger self, who worked hard to fulfill his dream, and being able to accomplish his goal.

He then added, “I’m just very very thankful and very humbled in this moment just to be here. And this is basketball heaven. And so to be an annual career and say that, ‘You’re going to basketball heaven’. I mean that’s what movies are made of. That’s what books are written about.”
