Thousands in Shock as NCAA and Sports World Mourns 21-Year-Old Car Crash Victim’s Demise

The sports world took a massive hit with the tragic demise of one of the growing talents at the NCAA basketball level, who could have possibly made it to the game’s biggest stage someday. On Monday, a Rowan County college student and basketball athlete named Eric Henderson lost his life in a fatal car crash. The 21-year-old’s saddening death has left thousands in shock as the NCAA and sports world mourn a devastating loss.

Eric Henderson passed away after his car crashed into an off-duty Cumberland County deputy’s pickup truck on US Highway 13, north of Fayetteville. As per reports, Henderson’s car crossed the center line before the incident, and speed is believed to be a possible reason behind the crash. The Livingstone College officials recently shared some details in memory of their bright student.

Henderson’s demise leaves a saddening void in NCAA circles

Eric Henderson was in his sophomore at Livingstone college. He played as a small forward and was in the first season of his NCAA journey with Livingstone. Apart from being an evolving athlete, college authorities revealed that Henderson was an honor student and an exceptional teammate.

As per WCNC Charlotte, the head coach of the Livingstone men’s basketball team, James Stinson, stated, “He wanted to be at Livingstone College. He took pride in being a Blue Bear.” Stinson added, “He was willing to sacrifice to make sure everyone else was ok. He was the ultimate student-athlete.”

The Livingstone coach revealed that Eric Henderson was proud of the Livingstone team. Stinson believed that Henderson was a brilliant student-athlete who cared for others more than himself.

Unfortunately, the sports world and the NCAA have lost an upcoming talent very early, leaving a lot of concerned fans in shock and sadness. At the same time, Henderson’s demise has left a massive void in his family.

Henderson’s family, disheartened by the tragic loss:

Eric Henderson was on his way back to college after a Christmas visit when he met with a fatal accident. Henderson’s aunty Erica Wright shared that the Henderson family was excited to see Eric. Moreover, Wright revealed that Eric Henderson had made a surprise visit and left a couple of hours later.

Further, Eric Henderson’s aunt was left wondering why he had to leave the world so early. Erica Wright also stated, “He was such a family person. He loved all of us so much and we loved him. I just don’t understand, so I am asking God why.”
