The Los Angeles Lakers have been stuck in a rut once again. Since the injury and sidelining of their leading scorer Anthony Davis, the team has had a hard time winning games. Apart from their win against the Orlando Magic a while ago, the Lakers were on a four-game losing streak before that. But the way the team played in their last matchup against the Miami Heat, fans have shown no mercy to LeBron James and the Lakers.

Now that Davis has been out of the lineup, James has taken over the primary scoring role once again. He is again leading the team in points, averaging 27.8 PPG 8.1 RPG, and 6.6 BPG on a 57.4% true shooting percentage.

An abysmal shot enraging fans

However, since the absence of Davis, the Lakers have played seven games and only won two of them so far. But their abysmal play reached a high point during their matchup against the Miami Heat recently.

With under four minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Lakers were trailing 98-105. Russell Westbrook drove into the paint drawing the attention of the defense. He threw a pass out to a wide-open Dennis Schroder.

And Schroder ended up air balling the three-point attempt. What was surprising was that there was no Heat player checking him intensely on defense. Fans were absolutely outraged by this level of play.

One fan tweeted, ?This team is a joke.? While another fan commented, ?No one was near him and he?s pointing at the refs like it?s their fault, but that?s the NBA for you.. when in doubt blame it on the refs for your failures on the court.?

Here are some more reactions from Twitter.

As much as fans wanted to back up Schroder, his incompetence clearly was inexcusable for air balling a wide-open shot.

Any help for LeBron James?

Very few players have been able to rise up to the occasion in the absence of the team?s All-Star. Russell Westbrook and Lonnie Walker IV are stuck around the 15-points-per-game mark, not being able to increase their point average.

And for Austin Reaves, Dennis Schroder, and Thomas Bryant, these players have been around the 10-points-per-game average so far. The only two players that have been pouring it in for Los Angeles are LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

This might be an area of concern for the Lakers? front office given how injury-prone Davis has been and LeBron?s age catching up to him. Should the Lakers hit the reset button and trade their pieces away?
