The Golden State Warriors had a historically poor start to their first-round matchup against the Sacramento Kings in the Playoffs. However, they are now just one win away from the Conference Semi-Finals. The Warriors maintained composure while playing in front of a boisterous home crowd at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento to go up 3-2 in the series. The last three games have reaffirmed Stephen Curry’s status as arguably the best player on the planet. However, a former Chicago Bulls guard seems to think otherwise.

Stephen Curry cemented his spot as one of the greatest players of all time after multiple memorable performances during the championship run last year. That even prompted one of his biggest detractors, Max Kellerman, to finally give his flowers to the 35-year-old.

Max Kellerman about Stephen Curry

In a recent episode of their show, Keyshawn Johnson, Jay Williams, and Max Kellerman reacted to the Warriors’ victory in Game 5. Max brought up what Curry’s critics have said throughout his career. He said,

“Because he’s 6’3 it’s hard for a guy that height. You know this sport is for tall people right?” However, he admitted that last year’s Playoffs helped him change his opinion about Curry. He said, “For the first time at the end of everything last season, I thought, ‘yo, Steph might really be the best basketball player in the world, period.’ And he might do it again this year, Jay. Because that title is open, right?”

Although Kellerman agreed that players like Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic were also outstanding, Curry can cement his status as the best player in the NBA if he leads the Golden State Warriors to another championship. He then asked the others on the show about what they felt. Interestingly, ex-NBA player, Jay Williams had a different take on Curry.

He said, “Devin Booker on line one calling in.”Kellerman interrupted him, asking if he thinks Booker is better than Curry. He replied, “No no I’m just saying he’s the way he’s just played in that last series though, he’s playing setting the table for an interesting conversation.
