While the NBA world is mostly focused on the ongoing season, they have kept one eye locked on 2023 top draft prospect Victor Wembanyama. The 18-year-old French Prodigy has remained a topic of interest for quite some time now and continues to do so. Every game Wembanyama has played so far has been followed with scrutiny and so was the most recent game. While many praised the young star for his game-winning dunk in the game against his former team, others were not so impressed.
The Boulogne-Levallois (Metropolitan 92) faced Victor Wembanyama’s former team Lyon-Villeurbanne (ASVEL) on January 9 at Palais des Sports Marcel-Cerdan. Wembanyama had previously signed a three-year contract with ASVEL in 2021. He decided to opt out of the deal a year later after having suffered from a muscle injury.

NBA Twitter took sides on Victor Wembanyama debate
Victor Wembanyama has already become a fan favorite and is rapidly gaining more favors with each passing day. The 7’2″ center has the majority of the NBA world in awe of his outstanding performances on the court. However, it looks like not everyone is on board the ‘Wembanyama-ship’. Fans erupted in cheers when he helped his team defeat ASVEL with a game-winning put-back dunk with just 3.5 seconds remaining on the clock. The Metropolitans 92 won 84-83 over ASVEL who had previously won three games back to back.
While many were significantly impressed with the game-winning performance, others could not see the point of all the hype. Here are some reactions:
