During one such discussion, Celtics legend Kevin Garnett had opined that the seven-foot giant will be a good fit in the Hornets. However, now that the Spurs have the honor of drafting the first pick, KG has changed his stance. The 2008 NBA champion is more than happy about the 19-year-old going to San Antonio.

In the recent episode of KG Certified podcast, Kevin Garnett and his former teammate Tony Allen discussed Wembanyama’s prospects in the Spurs. The two were quick to hold the San Antonio camp’s culture in high regards. According to KG and Allen, the Spurs have historically groomed some of the iconic NBA stars.

Given the high hopes on Wembanyama, the two former champions agreed that Spurs will be the right place for the seven-footer. “They [Spurs] have a very very very deep winning culture in its habits,” KG said. “I think this kid, Victor is like you said man. Perfect Situation. San Antonio is like a big, small city.”

According to Kevin Garnett and Tony Allen, Victor Wembanyama will surely flourish in a city like San Antonio where basketball is a huge cultural force.

Kevin Garnett told Tony Allen that potential distractions like night life are not as prevalent in San Antonio as in other cities. Besides, the 15x-NBA All-Star added, the Spurs’ five titles that define their legacy will be a great inspiration to the French prodigy. Besides, Garnett is also sure that the Spurs legend Tim Duncan will mentor the youngster.
