One of James’ most impactful and lasting projects is his ‘I Promise School in his hometown of Akron. And recently, the 18-time All-Star celebrated his education facility starting its sports program.
LeBron James began the I Promise school back in 2018. Its aim is simple, to help children in danger of going down the wrong tracks. Moreover, he has also helped out the parents. Notably, the school offers a fully paid resource center for the emotional and career support of the parents. As a public school, their unique approach first came under the hammer. However, their dual mission has paid dividends. Their initial batch of students did better than the state average.

Likewise, growth was imminent. Each year, the school has taken higher strides. Now, the LeBron James Family Foundation’s school has taken another huge leap kickstarting its sports division.
LeBron James announces I Promise school’s newest introduction
Just a few hours ago, an excited James took to Instagram to make an announcement. The I Promise School achieved a new milestone by introducing sports at the school. The 37-year-old shared snippets of students on the basketball court. Moreover, each had the newest LeBron 20s on their feet. King said in his post: “So so excited to see this moment finally come to life and for these squads to start a life changing journey together.

As a fourth grader, James missed over eighty days of school. Likewise, as a native of Akron, he is well aware of the influence young children can fall under. His I Promise institution has given the kids a gateway to success. Apart from the state-of-the-art facilities, students also get a college incentive. Notably, the students who qualify get a tuition-free college scholarship to either University of Akron or Kent State University.
