Chicago Bulls icon Dennis Rodman appeared last week at Chicago’s ‘Got Sole’ convention. The event held on 11th March boasted several familiar faces amongst the sneakerheads in attendance, including Rodman and a Chicago rapper, Famous Dex. Things took an unexpected turn, though, when the 6?6″ ex-forward Rodman called out another famous rapper, Travis Scott, on his own brand of sneakers. Rodman referred to Travis Scott’s version of the Air Jordans, taking a pointed jibe at his former Bulls teammate and NBA legend Michael Jordan as well.

Dennis Rodman indirectly took a dig at Michael Jordan

The Houston native Scott came out with a series of sneakers in collaboration with Nike. The sneakers, sold by Nike for $175, were priced by resellers at anywhere from $1500 to $3000. Their limited stock spiked up prices to an all-time high. The sneakers are consumed primarily as a work of art and Dennis Rodman claimed that Travis Scott copied his style.

The remark was indirectly aimed at Michael Jordan as well since the sneakers build on the style established by Air Jordans. Holding the Air Jordan 1 High OG TS SP edition in his hands, Rodman said, ?Travis Scott has copied my shoe.?

?I was the first guy to do mines backward. I was playing with the Chicago Bulls. C?mon Travis, give me some credit, you know? Copy my sh**…this is my sh**, right? So anyways, so this ain?t new, this ain?t new brother…congratulations,” said Rodman, abruptly ending his rant with a forced congratulation.

The shoes Rodman referred to are the 1994 Air Darwins. It was the first Nike shoe to have the ‘swoosh logo’ backward, about which Rodman did not seem pleased with either Travis Scott or Michael Jordan.

Travis Scott making big bucks with Jordans

The Jordan brand made it official in 2019 with the announcement of The Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1. The shoe was officially released on May 11th, 2019, and has been a huge hit among fans ever since. Sneakerheads are known to pay insane amounts to resellers to cop a pair.?

Scott?s partnership with Nike nets him an estimated $10 million per year. So, there is no doubt that the rapper is making huge bucks off his signature line of sneakers, as is Michael Jordan, of course. Let?s see if the Texas rapper comes up with something to say to either of the Chicago legends.
