During an interview years ago, Michael Jordan shared the story of facing the Lakers in the 1991 Finals and said, “This is all I have been working up for, it’s an opportunity to play against what everybody considers to be the best, it was Magic Johnson.” Jordan shared his wish to play against the Lakers and defeat them. He further added, “The mighty mighty Lakers at the time were one of the powerhouses in the 80s and now we we’re starting the 90s so if you are gonna make a statement, you have to make a statement against the best.”

In the 1991 NBA Finals, the two titans clashed, Jordan vs. Johnson. The Chicago Bulls won the NBA championship by defeating the Los Angeles Lakers in four games to one. Jordan was awarded MVP of the NBA Finals. Jordan fulfilled his ambition of defeating the great Lakers and his close friend Johnson with all the glory on his side. And it meant much more to him than beating his rival, Isiah Thomas.
