The Los Angeles Lakers legend Earvin Magic Johnson has lately started engaging with the fans through his Twitter handle. The 5-time NBA champion pens down several heartfelt messages through his tweets. Similarly, he shared another heartfelt message regarding his new association with the Oscar Winner, Samuel L. Jackson, and other Hollywood stars for a noble cause. Notably, the legend has extensively discussed philanthropy in recent times.

The 12-time NBA All-Star and the Pulp Fiction star have maintained a great friendship over the years. The duo often catch up at family dinners and sometimes holidays on a yacht. They joined hands again for an excellent motive to back a women-led entertainment company that uplifts African female creators and other diaspora artists, notably during Black History Month.

Magic Johnson shares a heartfelt message

 Magic Johnson, Samuel L. Jackson, and actor, director, and producer La Tanya Richardson Jackson recently backed Statement Films. This women-led startup supports women creators from African countries and other diasporas. The trio was the latest backers of the company, following several other celebrities. The company announced its recent association with the stars during the Joburg Film Festival in South Africa.

Following the announcement, the Lakers legend took to Twitter to share his message. He wrote, “This is a proud moment for me and my good friends Sam and LaTanya Jackson to support Areej Noor and Statement Films!” Writer and Producer Areej Noor founded the startup and raised $750,000 from celebrities and entrepreneurs for the cause. 

Magic’s philosophy on giving back to the society

Earlier Magic Johnson had revealed his exciting take on giving back to society. During an interview in 2013, the host asked about Johnson’s philosophy on philanthropy works. He said, “When you grew up in the community, and you grew up in urban America, so man people just take, take, take.” Johnson grew up in a humble household in a small city in Michigan with his nine siblings.

He continued, “And you know I didn’t want to be one of those people who just went in and made money and then get back and touch the community. And I thought it was important for my brand to build it that way.” Moreover, the legend continued talking about providing computer access for children and training to the youth.
