In today’s day and age, “Instagram-official” has usually replaced news. Celebrities have announced pregnancies, engagements, divorces, and business projects on social media. But they also take the same route to soft launch other not-so-positive announcements as well. Some high-profile people delete their partner’s photos from their feeds. Many unfollow the people they no longer want to engage with. An NBA star, too, has come under the radar for unfollowing his team’s official account. This has become a major hint suggesting a split between the player and his team.
It has been reported that the $177 million star, D’Angelo Russel, may be splitting from the Minnesota Timberwolves. A fan wrote, “This franchise is a mess“.

With several speculations suggesting that D’Angelo Russel’s exit is imminent, the NBA Twitter did their own calculations as to where he could end up next: Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers, Washington Wizards…and so on and so forth. But mostly, everyone agreed that the franchise has been in a pickle for a long time now.

The guard appeared to be longer following the team’s official Instagram account. Russell is in his 8th NBA season, averaging 17 points, 6.5 assists, and 3.2 rebounds.
With the trade deadline set for next month, his move on social media has given the NBA world fodder. An NBA reporter Brian Windhorst stated that the Miami Heat would make for a good destination for De’Angelo Russell. They would be interested in “trading veteran Kyle Lowry for Russell in a guard swap“. The Heat would like young blood on their lineup, as much as the Timberwolves thirst for “veteran leadership and championship pedigree“.
What’s happening with the Minnesota Timberwolves?
They sit as the No. 11 seed in the Western Conference with a record of 17-21. The front office has been recommended to clean up their roster. With many of their key players sidelined due to respective injuries, the team has not fared well.

The active players also have not helped guide the team. According to Clutch Points, Rudy Gobert hasn’t been the “difference-maker” that the team has cut him out to be. His shooting percentage is less than his performance last season. He is averaging 12.6 points per game, 13.9 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks.
D’Angelo Russell’s performances have “regressed”. Russell has been averaging 13.5 points, 4 rebounds, and 5.6 assists. These numbers “will not get it done for the Timberwolves“.
