The Boston Celtics had asserted a place of dominance after taking a 2-1 lead. Moreover, the Bay was in shambles as their commander, Draymond Green came under fire. Notably, the four-time champion had one of his worst finals outings scoring just 2 points in Game 3. His struggles weren’t hidden, and the TD Garden was erupting. The Warriors seemed to have their tails tucked in.
However, one man would single-handedly silence the Garden. That was none other than Stephen Curry. The sharpshooter was driven by emotion and noise which translated into an iconic game.
Stephen Curry explains Game 4 heroics
Sitting down with JJ Reddick, Curry spoke about his favorite game, Game 4 of the 2022 NBA finals. The Golden State Warriors were looked at as underdogs. Moreover, his teammate, Draymond Green was berated by the Boston fans. This only charged up Stephen Curry. Despite falling to a Celtics flurry in the opening minutes, the eight-time All-Star was at his offensive best. He wore his emotions on the sleeve as every bucket was a message, that Curry and the Warriors were still there.
His motivation was the past trauma the Warriors went through. For two seasons they fought for a spot in the playoffs. Moreover, many believed Curry and the Warriors would never win another championship. The culmination of all the factors became the source of a Chef Curry masterclass in Boston.
The two-time MVP explained: “It was different because it was in Boston. It was in that hostile environment and it was different.” Curry further said, “We lost Game 3 and you’re in that environment. It’s like ‘Holy s**t. This is gonna be a dogfight’.”
Once the Warriors gained momentum and put their mark on the game, Curry started giving it back to the crowd. He said, “I hit that one shot and I like started like yell at the crowd. I was like ‘This could be a different m*****f*****g game’.”
