Top-3 in all-time assists, Chris Paul is one of the greatest point guards to ever play. Whether it be reviving the Phoenix Suns, or almost beating the seemingly invincible Golden State Warriors with the Houston Rockets, CP3 has done it all. The one thing that has eluded him, though, and caused his family misery, is an NBA title. After coming ever so close with the Suns in 2021, the last two seasons have ended in disappointment for the 38-year-old. With Paul getting waived, the Suns seem to be moving in a different direction now. While the two sides share an amicable relationship, it gives Paul some say over his final destination.
CP3 has maintained that his primary objective is winning a title, but which teams are reportedly highest on the potential list? Adrian Wojnarowski recently listed a bunch of teams that could make the cut.

Paul has a genuinely stacked resume. However, the one thing that is missing from that Hall-of-Fame resume is a championship, a fact that has brought negativity to his family. While the Suns explore every possible avenue, here’s what Woj had to say: “If Chris Paul’s out there as a free agent this summer, look at the two teams in LA…the Knicks in New York, the Golden State Warriors…”

All the teams that Woj mentioned are thoroughly spicy. While his history with the Clippers is well-documented, the move to New York might be surprising. In New York, the veteran might serve the role of mentor to the strong guard rotation that the Knicks boast.
However, the most intriguing proposition is certainly the Golden State Warriors. With a storied rivalry against the franchise, and most notably, Stephen Curry, a move to the team would be shocking, to say the least. Overcoming the Clippers, and Paul, were considered Curry’s coming out moment. Who can forget Curry shouting, “The West runs through me now,” after breaking Paul’s ankles?

A move to the Lakers would certainly be a long-overdue homecoming for CP3. With longtime best friend LeBron James already on the roster, and the vetoed trade from 13 years ago still weighing heavily on Paul’s mind, the move would make the most sense. The Point God recently opened up about the infamous vetoed trade that would have seen him team up with the Black Mamba.
Paul finally shared the infamous Kobe Bryant story
Reflecting on their relationship, Paul recalled how the two had connected when first learning about the trade. Paul said, “It?s crazy how all that stuff went down. How the GM called and me and Kobe got on the phone. We talked, we talked and a phone call came through to let up know that the trade was nixed…We thought the trade was happening, but then it didn?t.”
